Happy fourth of July
Happy fourth of July, hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday! Our holiday started on Friday the 1st. We headed out of town as soon as I was able to finish with work (5:30pm, what the heck did I agree to ahhh this is year end and there was, is and will be a million things to do at work for the next month...ok year). Well Rick talked me into taking off all four days. We headed down to Shasta lake to meet up with the family. I am so happy we did! It was great, what an experience to hang out with Ricks amazing family. We had such a good time. The Loverin Family rented out practically the whole camp site. There were cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Grandpa's, Grandma's, sisters brothers and of course Porter. :) I got a little bit too confident with my wake boarding abilities and decided to try going as big (jumping the wake) as I could and did...but I should have thought about my landing abilities because well I don't have any. I forgot to let go of the rope while my body slammed into the water (after being air-born and doing a 360 or 2, I don't exactly remember and this is what I was told). Needless to say I dislocated my shoulder and received a rushed ride the ER 45 minutes away. Thank god it's a quick recovery and I am back to running as of tomorrow. We had a great trip, even with my busted arm. After Shasta we headed to Applegate reservoir. It was really nice to spend this time with Grandma Jeanne and Grandpa Fred. It was just relaxing...except for the black bear that went swimming next to our camp the night Rick and I decided to sleep without a tent under the stars with Addie. So funny to hear the bear splash around in the water and let out a sigh that transposed species and communicated a happiness to be in a cool pool, ahhh - had this bear had a pepsi in hand it would have been the next best super bowl commercial. I on the other hand had to change my underwear - I was scared **itless. Enjoy the pics and cheers to Bears and cold water - :)

The many faces of Addie
The last few weeks have been busy - is there any other way to live? Not in the Jacobs family. Grandma Jeanne has been over to see us, Rick and I ran a half marathon, we traveled to Pacific City to see Great Aunt Patty and Great Uncle Dave, Rochelle came to town and I had a bout of food poisoning while Rick was working out of town....Yikes - what a busy last three weeks. Addie is almost talking to us, lots of sign language with opinionated statements. Adalie is still doing really well going to sleep around 7pm and sleeping until 6am. Her favorite food as of the moment is watermelon and maybe her honey nut O's. She is not much for mac and cheese or peanut butter sandwiches but put a bowl of coconut seafood curry in front of her and she's a happy girl, messy but happy. The new house is still amazing - it is very efficient and the running trails around the house are great.

Sugar sugar sugar please

Thank God the finish line is in sight!!!!
Happy fourth of July to everyone!

Beautiful Zion -
Zion is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. It is truly a place of relaxation and breathtaking landscapes. The pictures don't do it justice. If you are ever in the area "Oscars Cafe" just outside the park has great breakfast burritos and "Pizza & Pasta" has some of best pizza and beer I've tasted to date.
Next stop Vegas
Sunday, after the bay to breakers, I flew to Vegas for a work conference. I missed my little family so much, thankfully Nita was also attending the conference and met me in the lobby after I got in for a night cap. On Monday, Rick and Addie had made it to Vegas (they drove from San Fran). The conference was good, the weather was blah and the strip was way to consumer driven. Our best night in Vegas was a beautiful run out at Red Rock park (10 miles west of the city). It was amazing, we went running just before sunset and the colors of the desert floor and drastic red rocks were brilliant. I think even Addie was impressed. Next stop Zion -

Bay to Breakers....yikes
Already June 1st, wow where does the time go? The Third week of May Adalie, Rick, Jeanne, Joni, Ashley, Jill, Judy and myself ran the Bay to Breakers in San Francisco. What a race! Such nakedness I have never seen before in my life! The best costume of the race had to be the 20 or so people dressed up like salmon running the against everyone...or up stream. Maybe I'm partial because while I was running past these fish people I thought to myself gee maybe I should have gone fishing instead (just kidding I would not have traded this race experience for a river trip). Rick ran and the seven miles in under an hour - way to go! I ran the race with Adalie on my back as my coach, every time I slowed down she would pat my back and start to fuss, no joke. This was very inspiring and tough, it is the strongest I've ever felt....7 mile run while carrying my 17 month old daughter - I can do anything! We all met up after the race - which does not sound like an accomplishment but when you add 55 thousand people into the equation and a City on the ocean you are unfamiliar with it makes for an interesting quest after an already enduring activity. Did I mention we did not run with cell phones :) So proud of everyone! What an awesome day and sweet accomplishment - I'm in for next year!

Little girl in a big hat
I love to color -
Today is Rick's Birthday and mother's day. He is so nice to share his birthday :). It was a very good low key day. Rick ran the "Salmon Run" and did really well, Adalie and I are proud. For the second year in a row, I could not run because of surgery recovery. I am hoping to get the okay from the dr tomorrow to run the bay to breakers instead of walking, either way it will be fun to be with family and in a 100 year anniversary race. I can't wait to see all the crazy costumes. Happy Birthday Rick and Happy Mom's day to all you beautiful, strong Mom's out there (especially my own).
